Apple events which are scheduled in October 2021
Everything you must know about Apple’s events in 2021, including keynote details and opening duration for the next Apple event, plus the occasions in the calendar for 2021.
Apple had an occasion on 14 September at which they launched the new iPhone, Apple Watch, and two latest iPads. You can watch the live stream of the video for that above. Now, attention is turning to 18 October when Apple will hold its next event at which it is expected to launch new MacBook Pro models (14in and 16in) alongside, potentially, a new Mac mini.
One product that was surprisingly absent from the Apple September event was the AirPods, but there may be a good reason why Apple decided not to launch them in September – the company was running a promotion where it was giving AirPods away to students making qualifying purchases.
Other events in 2021 have included Apple’s WWDC Keynote on 7 June at which the company revealed its plans for the operating system updates to the Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Apple Watch. Before WWDC Apple held its ‘Spring Loaded’ event on 20 April at which it announced the new 24in iMac, M1-powered iPad Pro, and new Apple TV 4K.
When are Apple’s next events?
- Monday 18 October 2021 – confirmed
We were surprised when Apple didn’t announce the AirPods at the 14 September event, but should we have been? Apple is running a Back to School/Back to University campaign, enticing students to buy Apple products by offering free AirPods. The Higher Education campaign ended on 27 September in the US and 11 October in the UK.
Due to that campaign’s 11 October closing date, we had originally hoped that 12 October 2021 would be the day that Apple would launch new AirPods – although students who just got the old models may be a bit miffed… Read Absence of AirPods hints at the date for the October Apple Event.
However, Apple has decided that 12 October would be too soon. The next most obvious date was Tuesday 19 October, but since Google is going to be unveiling new Pixel phones on that day we thought it was unlikely Apple would pick that date. The surprise was that rather than choosing the 26 October for the event, Apple instead picked the Monday 18 October.
What time will the next Apple events start?
Apple has said that the event will start at 10 am in California, which is 6 pm UK time.
Here’s what that translates to in the countries where most of our readers live (although there is a potential for disruption of these times based on when countries adopt daylight saving).
- UK: at 6 pm (BST)
- Europe: at 7 pm (CEST)
- US: 10 am (PDT), 11 am (MDT), noon (CDT), 1 pm (EDT)
- Canada: 10 am (PDT), 11 am (MDT), noon (CDT), 1 pm (EDT), 2 pm (ADT)
- India: 10.30 pm (IST)
- Australia: at 1 am (AWST), 2.30 am (ACST), 3 am (AEST)
Will there be a Apple Mac events in 2021?
We were hoping that there might be an event at some point in the summer at which Apple would reveal updates to the M1X MacBook Pro and Mac mini. However, it looks more likely that these launches will happen at the event on 18 October.
October 2021 event
- Monday 18 October – confirmed
Apple’s confirmed the event day and time. What can we expect the company to unveil? We may well see the following launch at the October event:
New AirPods
We hope to see Apple launch new AirPods, or even the long-rumoured AirPods Pro-Lite – said to sit between the wireless charging standard AirPods and the AirPods Pro.
The successor to the standard AirPods was a surprising no-show at the iPhone event but a pre-Christmas launch is very likely.
14in MacBook Pro
Apple updated two of the 13 MacBook Pro models in November 2020, but it left two alone. Apple has plans for the 2.0GHz 13 MacBook Pro that could involve a redesign and a bigger, 14 screen.
This latest MacBook Pro will also be getting a fresh Apple-made processor, possibly to be the M1X. For more information about the M1X, M2, and beyond read: Should I wait for the M1X or M2 Mac?
